Too Inspried to be Tired!

Dear Family and Friends,

I have taken on an incredible challenge. On July 24-26, 2009, I’ll be walking 60 miles over the course of three days, camping out at night with thousands of other women and men taking this journey with me. I'll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

As some of you know, my father’s sister Barbara died of breast cancer in 1973, at age 29. She went to the doctors with a lump in her breast and they told her to come back in 6 months. We have come a long way, but more is needed! I am walking with my cousin Tia, and her cousin Tia, as Team T’s for B’s. Tia, Tarsha, and Tia are walking in memory of Aunt Barb and for breasts everywhere to be cancer free!

Every advancement in breast cancer research, treatment, education and prevention in the last 25 years has been touched by a Komen for the Cure grant. They are working hard to build a future without breast cancer, and I plan on personally raising $2300 to help bring us closer to that goal. Please consider making a donation of $60, a dollar for each mile I will walk. If you feel so inclined, you can donate for each mile while I am training or more than $1 a mile I will walk in July. If you can’t give this amount all at once, you can spread it out over four months, using the payment plan option, if you donate online at http://www.the3day.org/.

To make a donation, click on the 3-Day logo at the top of the page. It will bring you to my personal fundraising page. If you don’t want to donate online, you can send a check to me or you can call 800.996.3DAY to donate over the phone. I would like to reach my fundraising goal by July 1, 2009, so don’t delay!

Without a cure, one in eight women in the U.S. will continue to be diagnosed with breast cancer. That’s why I’m walking in the 3-Day. Because everyone deserves a lifetime. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Tarsha

P.S. I you would like to follow my experience as I train and raise money, I will be journaling about my experience here on my blog. I will also be keeping a list of my donors and my latest fundraising effort. Check it out!
